GURPS101: Dungeon Fantasy Sharpshooters

The crossbow is quite a deadly weapon that appears in a great many fantasy works. Dungeon Fantasy leaves few templates that incorporate heavy use of the crossbow. The sharpshooter not only makes heavy use of the crossbow, it is the focus of the template.

Sharpshooter combat entails firing at range with one or two-handed crossbows and rapidly drawing melee weapons or carrying one in the off-hand as needed. Sharpshooters also enjoy the ability to move around combat without receiving a penalty from bulk to move and attack with crossbows. Quick Reload will allow a reduce the time to reload a crossbow by half per level. With No Friendly Fire, the Sharpshooter can fire into combat without fear of injuring allies, though all other penalties apply. Enhanced tracking will allow sharpshooters to aim at multiple targets and fire at any of them.

You have mastered the art of ranged warfare. You are able to rain down bolts from your crossbow in rapid succession. While the scout (Dungeon Fantasy 1 p. 10) relies upon speed and the environment, you prefer to the heat of battle and fight alongside the warriors.

  1. This is really nice! Would be very fun to play. So would a longbow archer version (while still maintaining more Sharpshooter focus than the DF Scout).

    If you took this, added in some specialized gear, and maybe even any special rules from Tactical Shooting that might apply, it'd be a fine Pyramid article...

    1. I've toyed around with the idea before, but Merlin beat me to it. ANd yeah, it would work just fine for a longbow too!
