Previously . . .

The group has decided to head to New York to meet up with Trinity and Mrinsfield after dropping off most of the metahumans with the Returners. They eventually managed to get clearance to land in LaGuardia. Upon landing, they’ve noted that Hux still seems a bit out of it, the skull indicating through feeling that Hux is more or less fine. Hux himself says that he’s fine, just feeling a bit dizzy and is planning on getting some sleep now that they’ve landed. Soar is quite interested in seeing NYC considering they’ve been absent from the world for almost fifty years. Boombox heads out to get some authentic NYC pizza and look around himself as well. Apex is curious where they’re going to have to be meeting while Soar is curious if their appearance may look a bit unusual, though Boombox and Apex tells Soar that in NYC, folks probably won’t care too much considering the amount of metahumans in New York, almost ten times the amount that are anywhere else.

There’s always doing some tourism while they figure out where to head out towards as they fill Soar as to who Dr. Mrinsfield is. That he was involved in something called the Trinity Project that was involved in superhuman power experiments and creating new metahumans. He was related to Apex’s current condition when she was healed from a degenerative genetic condition. Definitely morally gray and they know that he can give folks superpower. But as it stands, they don’t know why he wants to see Apex again. There’s always just making it obvious that they’re there and wait until Dr. Mrinsfield goes to them instead which is what they decide on doing.

They move through NYC with Soar being amazed by the sheer size of the city, the inefficient use of space as well with all the skyscrapers and all the homeless.

They eventually end up a place called Pugsly’s Pizzas with several huge pies. Soar is somewhat confused by how they’re supposed to eat it and calls sour grapes by saying they likely wouldn’t enjoy the greasy American slop anyhow after all the Russian food they’re used to. Apex makes sure to get a to-go box for some of the pizza for Soar to attempt to try to eat later. With their backs to the wall, they see the door open and close but no one coming in until they look down a bit further, seeing what appears to be a compressed man coming in.

The man orders pizza as folks snicker around him, dressed in a weird cotton and leather outfit. He starts shouting at folks laughing him, that no one laughs at the Metro Gnome. He points at a person and starts humming causing the person to start moving like a metronome, but in this case they keep moving from an upright position to violently faceplanting into the floor. Boombox attempts to convince Metro Gnome to stop, saying it’s a negotiation. He considers it for a moment before saying that he’ll stop it, but they’ll. . . have to eat pizza with him! What’s brought to the table is one of the most horrible looking pizzas in existence, a veritable kitchen sink of pizza covered with everything and red pepper flakes.

With his mouth full, Metro Gnome asks about the group saying he’d never seen them before. He explains there’s plenty of dangerous people to watch out for, tall people. He explains that he works down in the subway, dealing with all the monsters and grime that accumulate down there. They try to ask if he knows where Dr. Mrinsfield is, but as expected Metro Gnome has no idea who that is. They start to ask more about the monsters down there, and get a story about mutant cockroaches that ended up eating each other and mutating to eat humans and that he normally needs to fight them with flamethrowers. Soar suggest they talk to the scientist before they worry about the ecology of the subway system.

Aftermath

Deciding that’s the best, they go track down their fixer, Dario Vathano, at the local Hyatt where he’s currently hanging out. They’re invited in to enjoy some shrimp ball and champagne. He’s quickly filled in on what they’ve been doing and make the introductions for Soar before showing him the letter for Apex from Dr. Mrinsfield. They ask if he knows anything about the guy and starts making some calls. He manages to get a hold of one guy that’ll introduce them, part of group named Trinity, very hush hush group. He’s able to determine that Soar’s suit is an interesting looking energy containment suit and notes that they’re leaking radiation. All the radiations. A quick call later and they get someone, Micky, into fix up the suit so it stops leaking, more and more high-tech stuff is introduced as they’ve got a mobile printer that prints metal and many other things and starts updating the suit as well. When finished he points a device to the wall that forms a portal which he walks through.

Dario gets the information they need, that Trinity had a place in Rochester, and the person he spoke with gave him an address for the Trinity Project building that looks like a Scientology hangout on Google Earth. They look around and ask Dario about the local news, anything big going down or going up recently in terms of metahuman involvements. They eventually decide that they’ll head to Trinity Project after they finish up with Dario. Taking about an hour to actually get to their location.

After Action Report (GM)

I got to introduce the Metro Gnome and the PCs fell in love. As I knew they must because damn it, he’s funny. There was a gaff on my part confusing where Marvel’s X-Mansion is and random comments from the peanut gallery. There was just a lot of fun overall and I really just enjoyed my time with the players.

And that’s it. We’re ending it there. E-Team has had sporadic sessions due to all manner of bad luck and instead of getting a partial arc in do the next campaign coming up I’ve made the decision to to end it here. This is a good point where I can continue wherever I want when we pick the game back up again.

Other Notes

None.
