Previously . . .

The group had managed to beat three to one odds by taking out over 30 armed and armored bandits. Zhiyu and Ren are tending to the villagers. Ting immediately moves to check that Rang is still alright and didn’t get injured during the combat only to get to listen to her complaining about committing to combat which he tunes out a bit while brushing the remains of the bandit off of his knee. Jing Min, Jian Wu, Nongmin, and several others investigate the bandit leader that threatens them that his remaining men will kill them that doesn’t impress Nongmin that claims that they’d just end up killing them too. The He twins end up tying up the bandit leader while the rest of the team listen to the villagers worry about bandits.

The Village of Wind’s Pearl Redux

Ninth Month 15th day, 1001 Zao Dynasty

Shidao Province

Nongmin attempts to interrogate the bandit leader by threatening to stuff his soul into a rock and drop it in the bottom of a cave. Using his spiritual powers to threaten him into spilling the beans, but his underage age proves him to be rather unthreatening. Jian Wu moves to choke the bandit leader out when he doesn’t answer questions while Nongmin manages to track down the tracks leading to the bandit hideout while Ting checks the bodies for anything important and loose change. He only finds loose change though which he leaves on the bodies since he doesn’t have use for it.

Jing Min asks the worldly Rang who might be left around the camp regarding how close they are to the Order’s borders. She says it’s unlikely that there’s anything close to a lot of bandits left so probably just a few camp guards left. Asking the villagers, they learn that they’d taken the supplies that the Creche had been sent for which means that they’ll need to keep going for the supplies. The former village elder was killed in one of the previous raids so one of the matronly ladies comes forwards. When asked how they want to deal with them, the woman says that she’d be fine just drowning the leader somewhere away from village.

They split up, leaving half the creche to help move bodies for burning while the rest go to find the supplies and bandits.

The Bandit’s Camp

Jian Wu, Jiao Ting, Liang Jing Min, and Nongmin Chushi
In the Shadowside Mountains
Ninth Month 15th day, 1001 Zao Dynasty

Shidao Province

They manage to take the wagon most of the way before having to leave it behind at the base of the mountain and heading upwards on foot. They find the bandit lair that’s in the side of a mountain with caves. Somehow, on the march forwards, Ting manages to find every crunchy twig in the forest alerting bandits that ready for attack.

Jing Min moves to the side of the valley, trying to keep from being targeted by those above him. He Bohai climbs upwards and attempts to grapple a bowman but misses while Mouse clambers past and runs through. He Donghai and Jian Wu start climbing. The bowman moves away from Bohai and lets loose an arrow that hits He Bohai in the shin, temporarily crippling his leg. Jian Wu gets a spear thrust at him which he dodges nimbly. Nongmin reaches out with his spiritual powers and grasps a bowman’s quiver.

Jing Min moves to start climbing the hillside while He Bohai grasps the bowman. Mouse stabs one of the bandits in the vitals causing him to die. Ting manages to barely get up to the top of the hillside. He Donghai and Jian Wu continue to climb upwards. A bandit stabs at Jian Wu again who then dodges but gets an arrow to the shin instead. They move closer in to the group while Nongmin turns the quiver upside down, unloading the bowman’s bow.

Jing Min moves upwards while He Bohai tries to grapple the bowman again as Mouse stabs at those around her. Ting makes a judgement call that slamming an opponent on the side of the cliff might be a bit bad, so he moves in to shove his opponent instead, but it’s a rather weak push. He Donghai and Jian Wu keep moving upwards. The bowman attempts to move past Ting but fails to get through. Instead someone attacks Ting from the side, getting him in the leg with a spear as the other attacks miss the rest of their targets. Nongmin fails to maintain concentration as he tries to affect another’s concentration.

Jing Min finally crests the edge of the hill and He Bohai finally manages to grapple a bandit. Mouse stabs a bandit in the vitals, forcing him prone. Ting, having been stabbed slightly, pushes the bowman over the cliff’s edge causing him to tumble and break his back on the ground below before moving to try to grapple the bandit that stabbed him only to have it dodged. He Donghai grasps a spear from the bandit in front of him while Jian Wu misses up close with his giant sword. The bandits move forwards, trying to pincushion Mouse and harm the rest, but they somehow managed to get out unscathed. Nongmin continues to fail his concentration.

Jing Min moves to grapple the bandit, but fails when he attempts to throw the man over the cliffside to no avail. Bohai pulls down the bandit grappling and snaps his neck. Mouse continues to stab into vitals, killing another bandit. Ting clinches his way into the bandit’s torso and then knee strikes his groin causing him to sing like an angel. He Donghai strikes at the bandit close to Jian Wu, causing some damage, while Jian Wu moves away and attempts to slice and dice but misses the bowman. The bowman fires back but Jian Wu dodges the arrow only to get impaled from behind by a bandit. A bandit attempts to grapple back Jing Min but misses while Nongmin finally manages to grasp a quiver.

Jing Min manages to throw the bandit down the cliffside, harming him immensely. Bohai moves away slowly. Mouse moves to strike the bandits vitals again, dealing a lot of digestive tract injuries. Ting knees the bandit repeatedly, knocking him over the side of the cliff causing him to die from a broken heart and nuts. Donghai stabs one of the bandits in the back, doing a little damage, while Jian Wu slices through the bowman’s arms in revenge of his shin. Bandits stab at Jian Wu’s back, hitting him in the vitals. Nongmin moves towards the bandit that got thrown off the cliff, missing with a staff strike.

Jing Min moves forwards and readies his spear. He Bohai slowly crawls forwards while Mouse eviscerates another bowman. Ting moves forwards and does a double slammajamma managing to destroy yet another bowman with his reckless moves. Donghai stabs a bandit in the back to no avail while Jian Wu slices through a bowman’s feet. Another stab to Jian Wu’s back forces him to try to stay alive. Nongmin tries hit the bandit with his staff but doesn’t make it.

Jing Min attempts to stab a bandit in the back, but dodges both blows while Mouse’s stabs are both dodged. Ting’s attempt to grasp the final bowman is also dodged. Donghai’s attack is virtually ignored and Jian Wu’s attempt to kill one of the bandits fails slightly as he remains standing despite the great damage. Their return hit manages to cripple Jian Wu’s arm leaving him hard to use his sword. Nongmin continues to miss with his staff.

Jing Min finally manages to kill a bandit with a blow to the vitals. Bohai does nothing while Donghai moves forwards to attack from the bandit’s side. Mouse eviscerates the final bandit while Jiao Ting runs towards the commotion on the ground. Jian Wu finally the bandit with an elbow strike while the bandit on the ground finally stands up and strikes at Nongmin who manages to parry the blow and counter attack. Jing Min turns around and heroically charges off the cliff, stabbing into the bandit as he falls down killing him from the blow.

Aftermath

No one has any real first aid skills leaving Jian Wu to slowly bleed while they load up the wagon with the stolen supplies, leather armor, bandit bodies, and a bag of gold. They take some time to return to the village where the find a large bonfire where bodies are burned. They drop the bodies off, along with the extra supplies, and a third of the gold they found. They’re forced to spend an extra night to deal with the wounds the creche had accrued, and it’s unlikely that the Order would be happy with them. But when they get there, they aren’t happy, but they see the ears gathered, the bandit leader, and the resulting supplies and accept the approach.

After Action Report (GM)

This was the second half that should have been done the previous session but that combat in the village lasted too long. Overall, they went in against three times their own number and succeeded with only a few wounded. I won’t say minor wounded because Jian Wu took 67 HP (!!!) from arrows and spears. Still. He stayed up right and dished out more than he took. Mouse, as usual was pretty stabby and sharp. The dice just like her regardless of what attack she’s making. Some NPCs be like that though. Overall, another good session.

Other Notes

Bonus report here. L.A. and Calvin J. were both absent this week.

Soundtrack

None.
