Previously . . .
With the ambush plot taking its own sweet time to prepare, the Dragon Lady sends most of the group to investigate the disappearance of livestock and shepherds that haven’t come home. Shisheng gets them lost on the way towards the meadows and works his way into a tavern where Shisheng and Myaing get some drinks and reminisce about Shisheng’s time as an apprentice. Now well fortified, Shisheng leads his groups towards the valley where the disappearances occurred near late afternoon.

Sixth Month 30th day, 1017 Zao Dynasty, 12th hour
Nanchun Province
They spot a sheep which seems to have a lame leg and is bleating. There’s plenty of blood splattered around the area. Shisheng notices that it’s leg is broken and is scared out of its mind. Shisheng and Myaing move forwards towards the sheep only to se a rather large worm. Chon can see it come from the loose ground and the rest of the group identifies it as a Death Worm. They’ve been around for awhile and are normally found in deserts or barren places. Finding them in the mountains or lush areas are a rarity. They’re big, they’re bad, they can emit an energy beam that disintegrates things. The target now. . . getting the sheep to safety and away from the death worm.
With Yang starting things off with readying his weapon, Shishang charges towards the Death Worm with a leap and a yell. Miyang grabs the sheep. Big Chon strides forwards and keeps striking at it several times and impaling it with his last blow. Dodging the attempt to eat Big Chon with a bit of feverish acrobatic flair.
Yang steps forwards and tries to slice it with his Horsecutter, only getting one strike in. The same as Yang knocking it in the vitals with his quarterstaff. Myaing jumps onto a cliff and deposits the sheep on the ground before returning to the battle. Big Chon rips his hammer out of the side of the Death Worm while it goes for Yang who imitates Big Chon’s acrobatic dodging.
Yang slices at the beast again, his skills confusing it and causing Yang to hit the neck with both strikes. Shisheng jumps into a cliff to attack it with the environment while Myaing goes to strike the now prone Death Worm in its vitals. Big Chon moves and beats the hell out of the worm, impaling it in the vitals once again on his last attack. The Death Worm manages to struggle into a crouching posture as it comes up.
Yang moves forwards and rapidly strikes into the folds of the Death Worm. Shisheng yells forth, causing an avalanche where Big Chon’s attempt to keep grasp of his hammer results in getting struck in the knee by one of them. Myaing slices into the worm several times while Big Chon rips the pointy side of his hammer out of the side of the giant Death Worm. It struggles upwards once more.
Yang slices forwards once more with three strikes, hitting the worm’s main body and neck. Shisheng leaps off of the cliff and lands onto the back of the worm, ready to strike as Myaing strikes down the worm finally. Chon and Yang get covered by the remains of the avalanche debris, mostly small rocks and some debris. They crawl out of the pile and triumphant, they inspect the remains of the worm. Deciding to break it up into usable items they now face the task of getting it back home with Chon covering it up until they can return with help.
Aftermath
The day ends the way it began, with them in the tavern enjoying a drink.
After Action Report (GM)
Missing two key players in forwarding the plot I decided to do a “workaday” adventure where the PCs helped a local sheep farmer and killed a (powerful) monster being a nuisance. It was a pure combat session with some RP, but the PCs were happy and anything to build momentum is good.
Other Notes
Travis had to call out today for personal reasons and L.A. was absent due to other reasons.
Soundtrack
None.
