Previously . . .

The group has fled the scene of an attack at the British Museum, hauling the unconscious Grudge with them, taking her back to the hotel and up to their rooms. Every time that Grudge seems to be waking up, Lisa puts her back to sleep and says that she’s dreaming about the night that they robbed the bank. There’s discussion about potentially completely negating Grudge’s powers with Hamilton assisting Harvey by using his intuition on what sort of serum would work for them. Harvey works at his suitcase labs to developing his power blocking serum to specifically work only on Grudge and JJ, Harvey, and Hamilton modify an insulin pump to keep it supplying her with the power dampening drug whenever it seems like her powers are coming back, but anything more permanent may require for her to be more cooperative.

Before they decide to wake up Grudge, they go to decide to talk to Ulrich for options and advice to come to their room. Showing up with fuzzy slippers and robe with a bottle of beer in his hand, somewhat excited about the free shampoos, sitting down and sitting on the bed before seeing Grudge. Harvey explains that they found her attacking the library. He tells the group to sit down and to start from the beginning about what they’ve gone through along with a strange letter that was addressed to the group that was found in the book they grabbed from Jeraki’s works which he pays close attention to.

Ulrich looks to Harlowe and asks if he has a plan and what he can do to help. Harlowe just has the barest vestiges of one and there’s not much that Ulrich can do, the rest just wanted to consult him. Looking for a safehouse or perhaps someplace to get her the help that she needs. Ulrich says that they need to figure out where the Thule is and attack, calling them German bastards and explains the history behind the Thule as he’s aware of it. That they’ve been dealing with powers beyond human reckoning long before the TAP has occurred. He gives them what information he can based on info almost 60 years prior. The Thule operates in cells, what they do, how they operate. They normally have a camp, they obfuscate and move things.

They start to discuss having Hamilton using vibes from the Thule gear from Grudge to find them when Harlowe just asks why they don’t just activate the tracker arrow from Hamilton that Harlowe told Flit to plant on the helicopter. It being a non-constant transmitter ensured that a sweep for bugs wouldn’t immediately catch it when JJ sets up a tracker system that pinpoints them moving outside of London. Hamilton suggests using some vibes that he can get from Harvey’s DNA samples to detect where they are, getting a good enough location via a stunt where he can send in some remote viewing.

Harlowe, looking around, suggests that they wait to confront these people until they speak with Grudge, but also that they need to also be careful with things. Too many people in the room would result in a confrontational feeling, immediately putting her on the defensive. Same with having stripped her clothing and put in something else. Instead Harlowe says that they’d need Lisa and Ray in the room to give some sort of familiarity. With a camera set up and the rest of the group watching to see if she’s going to be getting aggressive.

As Lisa wakes up Heather, she comes out punching, managing to hit Harlowe to no effect and then attempts to use her powers against them only for the pump to beep and inject her with the power dampening formula. Asking what they’ve done with her, Harlowe just tells her that they’re keeping her from hurting herself much to her shock. Lisa sits by her side and takes her hand and speaking with her gently, about how they were looking for her causing her to break into tears. For the first time in her life for a long time, her brain seems clear. She asks what is going on and why. Harlowe explains that the drugs negating her powers are helping her, pointing out that she was a normal kid until they activated. They drove her to be angry, to be depressed, and every time she used her powers just made it worse and with the medication, they’ve got time with her powers nullified. He asks her what has happened after that night. She had searched for Jennifer, not sure why but feeling hazy. She met Jans-Friedrich Lichenberg who brought her in, hired her to do. . . things. Act as muscle, do bruiser work as she can break bones without ever actually touching them. He gets information, that they had taken flight from Lisbon that morning, that they were going to be meeting up at Luton airport for a ride out of the country. She has not idea the origin of the futuristic armor they were wearing. She is able to say that Lichenberg is dangerous, that he’s got some kind of control over electricity and move dead bodies. She’s tired though and asks to go back to sleep which Harlowe understands. Leaving the room, before she goes to sleep, he tells Grudge “Welcome back to the living, Heather.”

Aftermath

Back in the other room, they discuss what they’re going to have to do now, which Harlowe says that they first thing is to take a look at where Gore is going via Hamilton’s remote viewing. He can see him passing Redbourne in a taxi, having shed his armor, which means they’ve got a very limited amount of time to make their choice. They decide quickly to move towards the airport using Fiona as transport to get them as close as possible. JJ and the rest quickly assemble their gear, leaving behind Lisa and Ray with Heather while Flit, Warren, and Carol watch their rooms. Before leaving, Harlowe takes Jeraki’s book and hands it to Ulrich, asking him to protect it while they’re gone.

After Action Report (GM)

I liked this one. A lot. The PCs didn’t do much action wise, but the emotions and feelings of the characters really were poignant. The PCs got to redeem Heather aka Grudge just like they wanted. Well. Start redeeming her. The plot was moved along. The PCs have been set up for another big battle next session. Everyone had fun. That’s just a win in my book. I live for days like this as a GM. Next session is going to be brutal though. Anyone can be a hero on their best day. Can they be a heroes on their very worst? We’ll see.

Other Notes

None.
