Previously . . .

The PCs were hired by Dr. Julio Alverez to find and track down some thieves that stole medical supplies that were supposed to be for a clinic in Ushuaia. Your fixer, Two-4-One, offered them a job and they took it since it was so close by to where you were anyways. They landed at Malvinas Argentinas International Airport after riding on fumes and have been stuck there for three weeks so far while looking for jobs they can do in the local area. Two-4-One (A fixer) hooked them up with Alverez and he was able to cut a deal for themfor fuel and offered to pay them a sizeable amount from his savings. The PCs managed to track down the thieves  and even locate the supplies but there has been a complication. They managed to get the plane to take off with everything in it and…

The Skies Above Ushuaia

in the skies above Argentina, there’s a plane going through the air as they’re running on plan D for dumb. Trying to obtain medical supplies has gone awry and has led them to do a midair chase as they’ve infiltrated into another’s plane and have dumped the cargo pallets out the back of the plane where it’s going to be picked up by their plane, The Vagabond Star. Apex and Nero are currently riding on several of the cargo pallets they’ve dumped while Boombox is flying near them on waves of sound while several guards are also riding along with them.

Apex launches herself across the crates and shoves one of the many guards off the crate he was temporarily sharing with Apex, screaming about his pay rate on the way down. Nero, as a grey amorphous blob, moves closer to the guards on his crate and attempts to encourage them to set down their firearms through diplomatic means, thoroughly confusing them. Hux, meanwhile, is flying the Vagabond Star and is trying to line up mid-air extraction on the cargo crates come towards his plane, managing to hook up a quarter of the cargo pallets. One of their metahuman opponents, Downpour and Ballistek are opposing their rather enterprising acquisitions, and they’re aware that they’re grey cape mercenaries, the former is a weather manipulator while the other is more tech related with the ability to accelerate items and objects. Downpour, doing his job, strikes Apex with a bolt of lightning which she manages to dodge, though not to her benefit as it instead strikes the crate she was standing on that turns out to be full of oxygen bottles as she rolls backwards off the pallet. Electro powers up from the Vagabond Star and bolts out to land on one of the crates as Ballistek fires at Nero and blows a hole in the grey amorphous blob which only mildly phases Nero. Boombox, seeing that Electro has some of the pallets under control, asks if Apex is alright and discusses tactics, being told to go for Ballistek, firing a concussive blast towards his opponent though Ballistek’s armor still holds true through the blast. Several of the guards start firing wildly at Electro and Apex, striking Electro once which manages to get through his armor breaking his arm, while the two guards being confronted by Nero shoots at him only to get one gun knocked aside as the second blows through one of Nero’s leg, severing it completely only for it to regrow immediately.

Apex, twirling through the air, draws her grappling hook and fires it at Downpour, managing to snag him in the knee. Nero, not too happy that he’s been shot, apologizes to them that they’re not going to enjoy what happens next and attempts to engulf them as he goes into combat mode, grasping at one with his hand while the next goes with his full body, getting ahold of both of them and their gun. Hux, with expert piloting, manages to hook up another two pallets that had been disconnected during the oxygen explosion. Downpour stunts some rapid fire on his lightning bolts towards Apex who manages to dodge them all in a feverish acrobatic swing. Electro flies towards one of the falling pallets and starts to support it to bring it up to the hook coming off the back of the Vagabond Star. Ballistek, meantime, fast draws what looks like an oversized revolver that spins rapidly as six missiles fire out wards that flies off in different directions that looks like they’re aiming for multiple targets. Boombox, flying right in front of the plane, stunts some rapid fire to blast the missiles with concussive force before firing another concussive blast at Ballistek himself, causing him to go flying in the opposite direction, knocked out as a parachute opens up automagically. Several more of the guards have decided to charge in the opposite direction of the team and jump off the cargo pallets as the two that Nero have engulfed struggle fruitlessly to get away.

Apex, giving a quick inspection of Downpour, retracts the grappling gun to bring herself closer as she activates one of the gadgets that covers her claws with a knockout drug, climbs upwards on Downpour, and then claws his unarmored face, knocking him unconscious and then using the secondary hook on her grappling gun to connect herself to the Vagabond Star. Nero, meantime, grows a pair of wings and flies back towards the Vagabond Star to stick them to the side of their plane, deciding to take the two with them as well as “they’re people they need to save”. Hux moves to grab the last two containers that have disconnected from the opposing plane as Electro brings in the final ones that were flying free, after juicing back up from the Vagabond Star’s generator. As it floats into the back of the plane, Boombox uses his powers to blare out a classic victory jingle by Queen.

Nero keeps talking to the mercenaries, asking why they’ve decided to attack them as Apex asks if he’s going to be coming inside, unfortunately due to altitude and flight speed it’s very hard for the mercenaries to talk back. They take a tally of the pallets they managed to get into the Vagabond and the number of opponent they have lost they’d need to come back around to gather if need be, there’s at least five that have managed to jump into the sky.

There’s some actual discussion as to whether or not they’d need to actually capture their opponents as they land at the International Airport and start to question the two, but they don’t seem to want to talk either to Nero, though Hux is a bit more persuasive with some intimidation. They inform the crew that they were hired by an unknown party and that the two metahumans were hired at the same time by the same unknown person and that they stole the medical supplies and weren’t sure where they were headed for.

Aftermath

The medical supplies are really just medical supplies that would be delivered to hospitals. Afterwards, they discuss with Nero how to properly scare a person into talking as they interrogate Downpour when he wakes up, a bit more shaken Downpour pulls a cellphone out of his armor, and they thank him kindly.

The team drops the medical supplies and three mercenaries with Argentinian Police, making sure to drug Downpour to keep him compliant. Boombox, meanwhile, does some near shameless self-promotion as they gather some news reporters and Apex is giving a story about her exploits during the recovery. Hux takes some time to investigate the phone that he’d been handed.

After Action Report (GM)

The first session for the inaugural fourth team for my gaming group, the Headhunters, made a helluva splash. We spent some time describing characters, their personalities, understanding the VTT, doing recording checks, etc. and while it took up about 90 minutes we could have done doing other stuff it was worth it. I’m going to do this from now on for all teams starting new seasons. The actual game went great with the players and I had fun too. I used lots of Doom Points (negative impulse buys for the PCs) and life difficult and the PCs had fun. This was a really good start and I hope we continue on with it.

Other Notes

None.

Soundtrack

“Mr. Blue Sky” by Electric Light Orchestra
