The group is celebrating their victory over the wrongs they’ve corrected at a bar named Grandioso. A well-known bar that’s got its own liquor made from local oddments that has no name. It looks like a normal bar that looks like it was copied from the US half a century ago with linoleum everywhere and localized bar cuisine. Hux claims that he can taste a bit of dog in his drink and suggests that they don’t continue drinking while Nero is confused about why dog would be in the drink while others are joking about it being the hair of the dog that bit them. Allison, meanwhile, is going toe-to-to with someone three times her size in a drinking contest that ends up with her opponent under the table.

Boombox decides to order some food, something that’s obviously local since he’s in Argentina then he might as well enjoy the food while sharing with Nero who is amusing/boring people with various factoids. While they’re enjoying their meals, Hux takes some time to investigate the phone that they got off of Downpour, but he can’t seem to hack into the Nokia Phone, though he keeps trying to seduce his way into its sweet little memory banks. Plugging it into his various kits and making sure that there’s no security to wipe through as he cautiously traipses through it. There’s only one number in the phone which is repeated several times.

Boombox pulls Allison away from her drinking and suggest that it’s time to report back in only to get somewhat drunk grumblings in return. It’s going to take some time to do the checks on the Vagabond Star and they’d like to check the phone number as well. Boombox makes sure to order some more food when Nero gets entranced by someone singing karaoke, Journey’s Don’t Stop Believing, and he walks up to join in. He starts to lead the group, not even noticing that Nero is making up the lyrics as he calls up Boombox to join them. He samples in some old version of a live performance of the song and uses that instead of actually singing.

Hux starts scrambling to get a check when it’s mentioned that they’ve already been paid for by the contact that they were working for, Dr. Alvarez. Boombox thanks him gratefully for the paid tab and tells them that he has something to speak to them about tomorrow, if they’d have the time.

Good Morning, Starshine

Back at the Vagabond they’ve got some semi-decent quarters they can stay in, after plenty of sound proofing and Hot Lips stumbles back in, slightly drunk, at the same time as the rest of the group, having had a nice date. Hux escorts her onto the plane as Nero entices a nearby hungry cat with an empanada to join them on the plane. Some time is spent cooing over the smaller feline, at least compared to the number cooing over Allison. There’s some conversation about how one might name the feline, with Hot Lips suggesting naming it Empanada, or Imp for short, which is quickly accepted before Electro bathes and dries the cat with a towel.

Hux and Electro start arguing about powering the plane when the later suggests turning the thermostat up. Hux hasn’t really found much of interest on the phone so he hooks up into the phone lines and starts some old-school phreaking to get information, tracing it to a local signal that’s about 120 miles outside of town in the wilderness.

In the morning, folks wake up and get some plane-made savoury scallion pancakes into them. Allision, meanwhile, is curious if Imp has given her fleas. Electro suggests that he just give a slight shock to Allision to knock out the fleas while Nero instead starts emitting a minty-pheromone that leads the fleas to him and then outside the airplane.

Doctor, Doctor

Afterwards, they head out to see the doctor. He tells them, in very good English, that they’ve got a bit of a problem and that he was hoping that he could pay them to do another thing. There’s a local revolutionary group that has recently taken folks hostage that were doing archeology work in the area that has been investing some fascinating things, however after they left the town upon restocking, the rebels captured the archaeologists and decided to hold them for ranson, but if it isn’t paid then they’re likely going to be killed. The doctor offers a large briefcase with money, stating that’s all the money that he’s managed to save and that they’d hopefully be able to get the hostages back with that. A few of the team members suggest a more lethal possibility, much to the doctor’s dislike, as he’d prefer people to live.

Boombox starts playing some soft music to lighten the mood only for Hux to start complaining that his teeth are beginning to hurt. The doctor drags Hux to a back room, saying it’ll only take a moment as he shoves Hux into a dentist chair and drugs him, removing compacted wisdom teeth rather fast. The doctor, afterwards, says that if their payment isn’t enough, suggests paying in medical supplies, such as some of the white powder that Nero samples and immediately starts giggling and sweating tiny people. Hux quickly gets the show on the road and gets a map from the doctor which is turned over to Allison who is, technically, the team leader for purposes of bureaucracy. Electro attempts to shock Nero back to sobriety, to some success.

Aftermath

They look over the map and decide to grab their survival gear as it appears that their destination is outside the city near the skyline, across the border in Chile. Hux does some quick adjustments on the group’s gear before they head out across the border with a rented boat with Boombox getting them a good deal when an old man offers his for free based on what they did for the Doctor, which Hux gives a good once over to make sure it won’t break on them before declaring it in pretty good shape. They promise to try to bring it back in good shape, despite Nero’s comment that there might be shooting.

After Action Report (GM)

Lots of fun with this one. A really good second session with the players digging into the roles of their characters in really fun ways. One thing I made sure of was what the players wanted to do with the survival stuff because I can get deep in the weeds on that. I love outdoorsy stuff and I especially like putting my knowledge of it in games. We decided as a group that if it could be reduced to rolls then it should be. I can live with that. We’ll see how session 3 goes.
