Previously . . .
The game starts in media res in the middle of a jailbreak from 7,000 feet under the island of Alcatraz in the Black Rock Prison. Holding a couple hundred prisoners, not just psionics but also inconvenient prisoners, either those too dangerous to let loose or too dangerous to not be put away. They’re left down there to rot and be forgotten. Menzi having been left there for at least a decade while Jacob and Levi having barely been introduced into the population, Murph on the other hand has completely lost track of time, especially lunchtime.
A combo of luck, precognition, and a lot of other has lead to a long swim across to the mainland with three other prisoners. A probability alterer named Alexander, the second is Virginia, an elderly medium that planned the escape, and the final prisoner is Jean that is a cyberpsi that nearly drowned on the way over.

The team holds a moment to gather themselves and make sure that everyone is accounted for. Looking around, Alcatraz is lit up and there are helicopters being called in to track them down. Across from them is an IKEA, a Target, Barnes and Noble, and a small shopping mall. A drunk man stumbles past the group, blinks mildly, and continues on down the beach. Spotting an Old Navy, they make their way across to the door. Murph manages to scrounge up a green sandwich, discarding it for a couple paperclips that looked tasty instead. Handing them off to Duke, the group walks into back room.
Jean needing to get into the main office, the lock is popped open by Levi and Jean breaks through the camera defenses. Murph wanders into the employee break room and tries to get Menzi to communicate with a salad left in the fridge for a bit too long. Stopping for a moment to grab some hot pockets. Virginia lets us know that there’s going to be some problems, trying to circumvent problems the gang notices that Alex has left and Murph scans for him, finding him walking south towards the bay.
The group decides to go stop by a local Dennys after Virginia complains. Jean heads off for an ATM with Duke to get more money while Virginia gets some food and coffee and the group questions the medium. In the meantime, Duke forces his way into an ATM panel, ripping the panel right off. A quick moment later and their hands are full of 15 grand in cold hard cash. A quick discussion later, the group splits the money and wait for the truck to come in and less than an hour later, they watch as a mountain of a woman rolls in.
Menzi heads out and goes to check the truck, opening the truck up. Finding it half full of Virginia Hams. Instead of stowing away, they decide instead to try to get into front instead by talking to the woman and trying to fast-talk her into letting us into the truck. Accepting the flimsy excuse of them doing a scavenger hunt, they’re allowed into the sleeper portion of the cab and starts moving north while the driver, May, assaults Menzi in the front seat and asks where all the folks are heading with the group telling her Sacramento.

The group eventually ends up at Vagabond Inn Executive in Sacramento. In the morning, Virginia alerts the boys that they’re bringing in reserves and that there was a secondary breakout after the folks have been let out. The group splits up with Murph grabbing some donuts for Virginia and the rest of the group goes to obtain a vehicle, negotiating for a used RV and then move onto an SUV. Finding an appropriate one for about 9 grand, Duke decides to negotiate the price down too keep suspicion off while Menzi investigates the cars mechanics itself. Unable to talk the salesman down, they buy a SUV and pick up Jean, Virginia, and Murph and head for Reno.
Aftermath
On the way, Virginia warns the group not to split up and informs them that Alex has gotten caught already. Heading straight through Reno, the SUV blows a tire on the way to Vegas and limps along towards sin city where they buy a new tire and replace the donut tire with a full on spare while also being pushed to buy entirely new tires for the rest of the wheels. Turning them down, the group limps into the city proper.
After Action Report (GM)
This was a good start. It took me a few to get the PCs involved, but once we got going things just flowed naturally from there. Starting a new campaign is always a bit rocky no matter how much you prep. Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don’t. This time I got lucky.
Footnotes
None.
