It’s been over a decade since things went down at CERN.

Felicity “Flit” Chou has been streaming her guitar playing and skateboard tricks, getting really successful at it, becoming internet famous while her mother still disapproves of her lifestyle. She hasn’t had a lot of luck with romance and has mostly been going solo with her heroism, limiting it from beating up various bad guys and mostly sticking to rescuing people.

Fiona has married Lynn and had a child, Jacqueline Partheneia Duane-Egan, with her with the aid of Harvey’s science abiltiies, starting a rather large environmentally friendly plumbing company and aquaculture businesses aimed at vertical farming in high rises and off-shore platforms, staying moderately busy and keeping her superhero identity on the downlow, keeping fairly happy with her life while Fiona’s mother is also unhappy with her daughter’s life.

Harvey hadn’t been too pleased with himself at passing out at the CERN collider and being unable to save Carol and Warren, even eleven years later. In response, he started a medical company, helping people such as Fiona having children along with his interest in metahumans and helping them with medical conditions, continuing to help Grudge with her powers messing her up and others that have similar issues. He has continued to work on his battlesuit, though it’s not complete, swiping a few components from JJ, not that he’s around anymore. He did note that there’s something about Fiona’s DNA that’s weird and has found something weird in other people’s DNA, finding about two dozen with the same thing, finding them too orderly, that they’re less prone to disease and other problems.

Harlowe started dating Tabitha around six months after the incident and got dragged in front of a Justice of the Peace about a year later, having a large amount of children, ten at the current moment with two more on the way. Coming into a partnership with his Uncle Harrison at his logistics company, Wayfinder Solutions, working through various government contacts and doing his own thing with heroism, figuring out various statistics and psychological profiles. He’s also been business advisor to his various classmates, making them at least moderately wealthy.

Flit is moving around via planes, keeping the paper trail trying to get around the east coast, Chicago, China. She’s currently hanging out in New York, her breakfast having just arrived being a pepperoni, bacon, and cheese pizza with some Chinese dumplings that come with it, eating it with an old trick of rolling the dumplings into the pizza to eat them, much to the disapproval of her mother and God. So just eating pizza and drinking tea when her assistant, Aidan, comes in with a folder with various appearance she might be able to make. Aidan is super skinny, almost blink and you miss him sort of person that’s also incredibly organized.

He comments on Flit’s diet, saying that she needs a more balanced breakfast, perhaps oats and pineapple of some kind. Not even the dumpling in the pizza is enough to balance things. She’s got three possible appearances that day, one at an ice cream place, another at a bespoke skating store opening, and then a skate park that’s opening up in the Bronx that Flit immediately lights up on. Aidan says he’ll call a cab and get them heading over there in about a half hour.

Fiona, meanwhile, is in a similar boat. Dealing with a lot of houses, inherited houses in this case, and having breakfast with her mother, Tara, who is cooing over the baby and asking Fiona when she’s going to have more. Fiona just shrugs at it and has more omelets with Lynn who is scanning over more documents as a consulting Neurobiologist while Tara plays with Jackie, disapproving of Lynn not paying more attention to Jackie, sparking a small argument which they try to drag Fiona into. Tara has someplace she needs to be though, they’re opening a new hall at MIT and naming it after Fiona’s cousin, someone in the family needs to be there for it so it should be a quiet day for Fiona and Lynn. At that, Lynn looks up and around, as that’s a common enough red flag to jinx things when someone says it’ll be quiet.

Harvey’s facility isn’t just in one place, it’s more a series of trucks and a mobile home that travels with him like a triage hospital such as a warehouse in Queens. The staff commutes to their new location and they’ve always got extremely intelligent interns coming from Meraki Institute for Academies and part of it is funded by Nicolades with hopes that Harvey will be able to advance things with metahumans. People versus power foci rather than someone having just one or two separate abilities that aren’t easily useable for heroism or basic things.

Harvey takes a few of the scarier cases aside and follows Ulrich’s example in how to train powers and how to dampen them with specifically tailored medication, and even working with Riker’s Island on it with Carl Nash who was brought to him under guard. Nash is a pretty friend guy, it’s just that he’s kind of evil in that his powers aren’t the kind of things that he’d expect in that Nash can control various gases, transform into a gas, transform one gas from another. He used his abilities for robberies at first before he became a serial killer and Harvey is there because it’s uncertain if why he did those things was because that’s just the way it is, or if it’s because he’s got a bad case of MAD. He’s transported in a metal coffin, an airtight one that’s basically a power dampening device that he can’t escape from.

Nash greets Harvey brightly, asking the guard for a coffee and constantly whistling. He’s overly friendly and quiet charismatic as hell covering the monster that was in the Riker’s Island hole that’s a converted WWII bunker that’s been reinforced for its current state to hold people they cannot control. Nash has had his own private facilities for a while now after coming out of the hole. He asks about what they’re going to do that day, if they’re doing some more new drugs, doing some DNA samples, some drugs.

The first thing is DNA sample, they’re going to have to open the box though to get it since the box isn’t outfitted with a valve they can take a sample through. For his part, Nash doesn’t fight, saying to get the one vein from the hand as that’s the juicier one, taking lots of body fluids from him.

Harlowe, meanwhile, is spending his morning with his Uncle Harrison speaking with a man from Taiwan getting out some integrated chips. There’s a Chinese ship nearby that’s blocking them from exiting the port and they need to get the chips out without causing an international incident. The chips are supposed to be into drones in California and Harlowe can already hear his children screaming behind him. He tells the man that he’ll get back to them after reading what they’ve got. After getting the kids off to school, Harlowe distracts Tabbs a moment and gets to cleaning the house behind the kids.

Walking into a room, he see a breaking news bulletin where recorded footage of a drone going down over Riker’s Island as a sinkhole has opened up. There’s footage of metahumans fleeing the prison and a newscaster briefly going on before the broadcast cuts out completely. First thing that Harlowe does is to go outside and grab his kids before they get on the school bus and tells them they’re staying home today. He explains it to Tabbs only that it’s a repeat of 2016 and the kids are staying home before Harrison pours him a cup of coffee and asks him what the next step is. The only thing that Harlowe comes up with is that they’ll have to contact High Command.

Flit, at the park, is noticing that they’re no longer watching her tricks and are instead watching phones. Looking closer, she sees that they’re watching Mewtube footage on the Riker’s Island breakout. Flit tells Aidan to get them to disperse, go home or to a shelter. She then contacts Fiona and makes plans to meet up. There’s at least one metahuman known as Giga-Jewel, someone with a lot of electrical powers and a fondness for gems and a fatal attraction thing for Harvey. Flit pops over to avoid Fiona having to find a water outlet.

Harvey is trying to remember what he can about Gigajewel, knowing that her particular set of powers has affected her mental chemistry causing some brain damage. Someone contacts Harvey on his cellphone, letting him know that Gigajewel has escaped and suggests that he gets out of there quickly and into a metashelter. At this news, one of the guards from Rikers stabs Nash with a sedative, knocking him out. Harvey’s next priority is to get his staff to safety and keeps Nash under control, only one of Harvey’s nurses, Rita, stays with him while the rest evacuate to a shelter. Rita does try to convince Harvey to evacuate, when Gigajewel shows up.

As Gigajewel comes in, so do Flit and Fiona from a nearby alleyway, seeing Rita looking absolutely horrified and Harvey speaking to someone in an orange jumpsuit. Gigajewel says she knew he’d be there, that he can’t really run away from her and she’s got early release. And if they didn’t want her to get out, they wouldn’t have allowed a couple guards to have a few broken necks on the way out. They aren’t ok. Her actual name is Jewel Pyzybylski. Harvey tries to talk her down, saying that they’ve talked before about killing people and that he really wished that she wouldn’t do that. She acknowledges that, but she really did want to see him, and didn’t he want to see her?

She is getting rehabilitated, he’s rehabilitating her. She wanted to come there to make sure that he’s alright, she stumbled across something really stupid, that he’s a really wanted man, someone greenlit him. That someone can kill Harvey without repercussions. Asking, Gigajewel, she says that she can’t let that happen to him. She doesn’t actually know much, just that she saw someone on video talking about it and that she’s hidden the video in Victoria’s Secret Compartment. As Harvey reaches for it, Flit teleports in and grabs Rita to teleport her out of harm’s way into a nearby alley while Fiona attempts to siphon water from Gigajewel only for it to not work, Jewel spins around and throws a bolt of lightning at Fiona only for nothing to happen as her hands are stiff cuffed with electrical dampening handcuffs. Fiona, deciding to change tacts, tells her to back away from Harvey. Jewel denies it, saying that someone is trying to kill him. She eventually acquiesces to not killing people as Harvey starts the video. He can’t see faces, just hear voices, and they can hear that they’re going to have to kill Harvey and then take over the Foundation.

Aftermath

After noticing no response to the text message sent to Harlowe, they decide to activate the communicators that Ray invented to get a hold of them that they’re planning on attacking Meraki and people associated with it. Harlowe just adds another note on the board while Flit asks why there’s a huge sinkhole in the middle of Riker’s. Harlowe barely even responds to that about the WWII bunker and that it’s likely that someone decided to break out or break in. They determine that they’re going to have to meet up and determine their next move. Harvey is definitely going to get a new sample of Jewel’s DNA to get a new dampening bullet made up for her in the meantime though, especially if they’re going to let her loose.

After Action Report (GM)

A short, but impact session. Getting the player character back together after such a long time in game can take forever. Granted the players were working with me on this one, but still. Doing that can suck. Takes time to get everyone on the same page but this time it came together pretty good and I rather liked some of the back and forth that happened.

The PCs from B- and C-Teams are now in the same time and the same place. A-Team is in another dimension so they might miss everything except till the very end of the arc. E-Team will end up with the first two at some point, but they are going through their own struggles.
