Previously . . .

With the information having been delivered to Ray and the smell of breakfast enchiladas wafting in drawing in the others while Harlowe finishes his research. Gigajewel is curled up near Harvey looking almost adorable and not like a complete homicidal killer. Flit, meanwhile, has had some weird dreams, wandering in mist. She goes to find Harlowe, asking if he’s got an MRI machine around. He asks why, and when she explains he moves to psychoanalysis mode, asking how it made her feel and otherwise. Harvey mentions it may be possible that she’s experiencing some aftereffects of trauma from teleporting into the side of the dome and she should get some counseling when they’ve got time.

Things move over to the dining table where they get to battle over food with the Hobbs children making a regular food fight look civilized. Once done, they get a message from Ray over the sending stone, being told to check their actual messages. Fiona gets to her phone first, talking to Ray that he’s found the epicenter, that they’ve got a large device heading out to them now and that the epicenter of activity seems to be coming from Montauk Point, possibly even from the donut cave. They’re going to be airdropping the device now and they’re going to have to be transporting it themselves.

Heading to the roof, they wonder how they’re going to be getting it down when two large automated drones come in with a standard pallet that’s got a hitch and wheels right outside in the street. Looking at it, they can tell that it’s rather slapdash and definitely not up to Ray’s usual standards looking rather ugly and not yet done with the controller looking like a laptop that has been shoved into the guts of the thing and an ugly dish on top with wires and components exposed. Fiona tries to fiddle with it to see how it works when a Clippy Ray pops up saying it looks like she’s trying to save the universe and asks if she wants some help. When she says yes and asks what to do, she is told that they need to get to Montauk Point and follow the preprogrammed route.

They try to figure out which car to take with the Vanagon winning out as Harlowe hooks it up to the towing hitch, tells Tabitha where he’s going and fires up the force fields to drive over the buildings. With Flit being annoyed about driving so slowly, Harlowe gives her some juice boxes and some entertainment until they get close enough and pass through the wall of darkness. The closer they get to Montauk, the worse the feeling they get from the area until they can get no closer in the car. They unhook it with Harlowe hauling it behind him over the landscape into the bunker and then down into the cavern.

The light in the center of the cave is pulsing madly, not slow enough to have long valleys but slow enough to be noticeable to the naked eye like dimming an LED. Harvey takes a look at the light with his goggles. Huge amounts of kyberic energy is wafting off of the light in the center with their bodies absorbing it. The computer activates saying that they can activate now or they can get closer for a better chance. Harlowe, sighs and goes back to hauling the machine up onto the pillar in the center. They see that the light in the center is spitting out will o’ wisps of light that disappear a few feet away. They set up the machine and Harlowe has everyone else heading out when Harlowe presses the button.

The lights start pulsing in sync and they’re suddenly back over a decade ago in France. A day during their trip into Europe where they put all the tables together at a café in France when Warren starts speaking to them. Talking to them about having to stop something in 1948. Years back, he was pulled out of the time stream right when the explosion in CERN happened. Someone told him that he needed to tell the others. He’s there but he’s also stuck at the moment that the explosion happened and he’s not able to tell them who pulled him out, that he was someone dressed like they’re from the 1900s and had a cane and was older, barely telling him that he’s Vallaxs. Vallaxs just wanted him to pass on that they had to stop something from being activated in Montauk in 1948. Flit pokes at the side of the bubble of time, causing it to shake before leaving it alone. Warren gives them all a hug, saying that they need to stop the machine.

Fiona moves around, speaking with the others and investigating. It’s like everyone there other than the group is sleep walking, moving through the motions and making noises like the adults in Peanuts. Fiona tries to will the time bubble towards December and snow starts falling on the ground while the bubble shakes. When she tries to put the café in Montauk, the bubble collapses and they get compressed into a very painful atom. They wake with a start back in the Montauk in the donut hole with Chessur licking Harlowe’s face.

Looking around, it’s pretty obvious that it’s not longer got any light in there but there’s a small stone pillar in the middle. Fiona tries to get out to find her way blocked by concrete and she doesn’t have any kind of signal on her cellphone either. Flit opens a portal, finding it hard like there’s interference saying that they’ve got. Fiona starts ripping at the concrete with a water knife while Flit tries to make a portal up to the surface. A portal is opened at the same time that Fiona is through the hole. Once outside, the phones still don’t work and they feel pins and needles like their limbs have fallen asleep, except it’s in their minds and spirits like a sense they cannot quite understand yet.1

Aftermath

They can hear someone coming forwards and talking. Harlowe is able to discern the sound of standard issue boots. . . from WWII. Fiona immediately drops into a puddle while Harvey activates stealth mode on his battlesuit, extending it to Gigajewel and Flit sneaks away leaving Harlowe standing there. When two corporals and another stumble upon him he’s trying to figure out what he’s trying to remember, Fiona suddenly reforms, points at Harlowe and speaks Russian before disappearing for some reason. Harlowe, not wanting to start a fight, goes along with getting handcuffed and is separated from the group with Flit trying to follow after him, seeing him dragged into a building with guns held on him and searched. While Harlowe waits, he tries to think of a coherent story for his presence there.

While in the forest, the group start stalking around the place trying to get an eye on things with Fiona and Harvey leading point. They try to figure out where to head from there and whether they should spring Harlowe or not, with Flit being conflicted because he went willingly. They’re trying to figure out how to work things and where to go, who to call to find out how to contact someone to help.

After Action Report (GM)

Not much to report here. I screwed up pretty bad as a GM today and will have to try and fix stuff if I can. I’m not perfect and I will not pretend to be.

Other Notes
