As the group was tracking a signal from the doctor’s office which led to a base on a boat where they mopped the floor versus the team guarding the boat and the metas involved. Hux has been going through the system they found there, having pwned it. Allison is still having some leftover urges from Angel Cakes to wear sundresses.

There’s not much else to find on the boat beyond the comms station that’s tapped into the old satellite and cell systems. There’s plenty of standard Russian overproduced guns on the boat, medical supplies, food that can last a long time, water purification chemicals, clothing. There’s questions about why one would need humanitarian supplies. It might be something that a charity could use or it is what it is and would be useful if something bad happens. For lack of anything better to do, Boombox tries some of the clothing which isn’t anything haute couture, but mostly just workday clothing while Apex looks for labels. There’s obviously places that they’re going, at least several going towards Porto Alegre in Southern Brazil

Nero has urges to bake macaroons while not even knowing what they and keeps humming while doing so. Apex fills them in on what they experienced at the hands of Angel Cakes and suggests keeping an eye on them just to be sure. Boombox suggests trying some of the meditation exercises to help control their minds. Nero questions if they spoke with the authorities about what’s going on with the boat, while Boombox suggests getting away first and then calling them, doing so with some weirdly created voice, giving them a heads up about the metas there.

Hux checks some things out online about Angel Cakes. Public information says that she worked in support for Blue Skies Defense Contractors who was then trained in special operations once they learned what she could do and how to spread herself effectively infinitely. What happens is that she takes over a body and then it’s her. What’s difficult is getting her to focus as she always feels like she has to be there to make sure that her husband gets dinner and martini and all like a 1950 television housewife. Apex researches about her husband, learning that he passed away in the 90s before the TAP happened. She’s less of a metahuman and more of a plague, though thankfully it appears that once they resist the initial infection the remaining urges go away on their own. But if they aren’t able to fight off the infection, there’s barely a 1 in 10 chance they could turn back and even then there’s leftover phantom voices and memories. Checking out the rest, it appears that the rest of the metas have been previously employed by Blue Skies.

Hux thinks about the machine that AMA wants to build but finds that he’s going to need more parts so he thinks about the doctor and nurse and how to find them. Boombox suggests putting out a full-scale bounty on them on the internet to contact them if they’ve been found, after all what could go wrong? Hux hacks into a national database and substituting a few wanted posters and got them set up to specifically call Boombox’s business cellphone. He also throws it out onto the dark web as well.

Aftermath

With that done, they’re heading off towards Brazil while keeping an eye out for a junk yard to get the spare parts that Hux needs to build the machine. It’s not really that large of a machine, about a yard all around. While in the air, Boombox gets a bunch of calls but only one that seems realistic. They repeat the poem that they found and said that they’re everywhere, part of the police, the politicians, the medical community, and they would know them by their mark. Thinking back, everyone has a small flower, a lotus on them, just tattooed flowers on their hand. Nero shoves a macaroon into Hux’s mouth before asking him to look up that flower and people. Nero wants to know what’s going on, why it’s a flower, why there’s humanitarian items. Hux surprisingly gets a hit, it’s a bunch of activists that have a bunch of flowers tattooed on them like the ones back at the port, and are based out of Porto Alegre. Boombox thinks that the tattoos may represent what they do within the organization which would be really rather odd. They finally get on the ground in the Port Alegre International Airport.
