It’s the season and I thought it might be fun to create some Ritual Path Magic spells for Santa Claus and his minions. I mean if elves don’t have magic who does?
Arose Such a Clatter
Spell Effects: Greater Destroy Energy.
Inherent Modifiers: Bestows a Bonus, Stealth rolls.
Greater Effects Multiplier: 1 (x3).
This spell causes the subject to become completely silent and invisible except to those who believe in Santa Claus. This results in +20 to Stealth rolls. This effect lasts from sundown (Christmas Eve) to sunrise (Christmas Day).
Typical Casting: Greater Destroy Energy (5) + Bestows a Bonus, +20 to Stealth rolls (72) + Duration, 12 hours (6). Notes: This spell only affects those who do not believe in Santa, this reduces cost by -10%. 225 energy (83×1).
Down the Chimney
Spell Effects: Greater Transform Crossroads.
Inherent Modifiers: None.
Greater Effects Multiplier: 1 (x3).
This spell creates a chimney in the subject house large enough for a large man to fit through. It has no effect on houses that already have large such chimneys. This lasts for ten minutes, but can be canceled before then if the caster desires.
Typical Casting: Greater Transform Crossroads (8) + Duration, 10 minutes (1). Notes: This spell only affects those who do not believe in Santa, this reduces cost by -10%. 27 energy (9×3).
Mount to the Sky
Spell Effects: Greater Control Body
Inherent Modifiers: Altered Traits, Enhanced Move (Air) and Flight.
Greater Effects Multiplier: 1 (x3).
Typically used on reindeer, this spell causes the subject to be able to fly for the next 12 hours.
Typical Casting: Greater Destroy Energy (5) + Altered Traits, Flight and Enhanced Move (Air) 2 (80) + Duration, 12 hours (6) + Subject Weight, 1000 lbs. (4). 255 energy (85×3).
Snug in Your Bed/Long Winter’s Nap
Spell Effects: Greater Control Body + Greater Control Mind
Inherent Modifiers: Area Effect + Healing
Greater Effects Multiplier: 2 (x5).
This spell causes all the subjects in a house (or other 70 yard area) to go to sleep if they are in the bed and have a restful night. This results in fully regaining any lost FP (or up to 4d), ignore the effects of the Nightmare disadvantage, and counters any hostile sleeping magic (make a Path vs. Path skill). When the subject of the spell awakens they will feel refreshed, happy, and energetic.
Typical Casting: Greater Control Body (5) + Greater Control Mind (5) + Area Effect, 70 yards (18) + Healing, 4d FP (12) . 200 energy (40×1).
Turn Back the Clocks
Spell Effects: Greater Transform Crossroads x3.
Inherent Modifiers: None.
Greater Effects Multiplier: 3 (x7).
This spell causes a rift the subject can go into to “freeze time.” If successful you drop out of the normal flow of time. While out of time, you perceive the world as frozen. You can’t affect it (and vice versa) — only observe and move through it. You can leave things you brought with you, however. You can interact with items you brought along, subject to the usual limits on carrying capacity; this lets you patch your wounds, reload your guns, read magical scrolls, and so forth. Time passes for you (you tire, grow hungry, age, etc.), but it’s subjective. You can carry up to 5 tons with you (about the amount of 8 reindeer, a sleigh, and a jolly fat man).
Typical Casting: Greater Transform Crossroads (8) + Duration, Until all presents are delivered (20) + Subject Weight, 5 tons (6), . 238 energy (34×7).
